Garage Conversions Scotland

Hello.

I've created this in order to provide a cautionary alert to anyone in the west of Scotland region from hiring the company Garage Conversions Scotland, based in East Kilbride.

My simple advice is - well, don't.

We used them to have our integral garage converted into a play area for the kids. Now, to be fair, despite taking a while for the work to actually begin and then for it to "seem" complete, the actual workmanship was pretty good. the new room looks good and is a great place for the kids to play in.

However.....our trouble dates back to our paying the bill for the job when the job was, albeit near as dammit, not quite complete. We paid in cash too (which we've no doubt whatsoever that the company declared in full, in the fashion required by law). This was a mistake.

Because part of the job was to ensure that the completion certificate for the work was signed and issued by the local authority. And, when their inspector paid a visit to examine the conversion, he couldn't issue the certificate without first having the builder responsible provide a little elaboration on a small part of the work. Should have been incredibly straightofrward, in truth.

Sadly, our builder, David Gentles of Garage Conversions Scotland in East Kilbride, chose this moment to stop taking or returning our calls, and to start ignoring the very many messages we left. Over a period of weeks. When we finally managed to get a hold of him through a colleague of his, he apologised profusely and promised to contact the local authority officer as soon as he hung up the phone with my wife.

He didn't.

That was several weeks ago now, between two or three months, in fact. Again, our calls go straight to answer phone and our messages are being roundly ignored. We've reached the stage where we'll probably need to enlist another builder to meet with the inspector and try to get this outstanding query answered and the completion certificate issued.

Meanwhile, David Gentles and Garage Conversions Scotland in East Kilbride, can continue to enjoy the money we paid them (again, cash, all no doubt declared in full) but without, for some reason, making the small effort to complete the job for which they quoted and were paid.

So......if you're interested in having this kind of work done, therefore, or considering it, well...you know who NOT to choose; Garage Conversions Scotland.
